Focus groups should be used to surface ideas that you hadn’t thought about before. Things that weren’t in your consideration set, but should be. Things that you might have initially overlooked. It helps you know what you don’t know.

Focus groups - and asking friends whether they like your idea - should not be used as a vote for what you should do.
