Lesson from Thanksgiving

What’s missing in the picture above? Ah yes, serving utensils.
As you can see, there’s one spoon….and it’s in the pasta. In the hustle and bustle of setting up for Thanksgiving, I forgot to get enough serving spoons. The result is that many dishes went untouched until this was addressed.
The lesson: if you want people to take certain dishes, make it easy for them. If people have to find a serving utensil, or use one from another dish, chances are they’ll just skip it.
Takeaway: Make it very clear what you want the customer to do, whether it’s to purchase or to click on a link for more info. If people have to think about it, you’ve already lost, so don’t make them think.
