Small is the new big
People optimize for size. More Twitter followers, more “likes” on your Facebook status, more YouTube views.
Bigger conference, more club members, more clicks.
Quantity is a default measure of impact. It ends up being over-emphasized because it’s easily measurable and seems unbiased.
Mainly, you never have to make an argument about why counting something so quantifiable matters. Everyone accepts that it does, so that makes your life easier. How many people did you touch, right?
I think you can make a big impact with a small group of people, and change them deeply. You can be as important if you did this than if you chased clicks and more more more.
